This is a brief overview of the policies in the Expressions Dance Handbook. You will be given a copy of the handbook at your first week of class.
Print the Release Form HERE. (Due at your first class.)
Classroom Observation: During the last week of each month parents may observe the last ten minutes of class. Teachers will open up their door and invite anyone there to come in and watch. This is the chance for you to see firsthand what the classroom experience is like for your child. Please do not bring infants or other children to the in-class observation week. Never disrupt class. During the in-class observation week (or at any time if the door to the classroom is open), please refrain from shouting instructions or distracting your child in any way. Other than this designated observation time, please wait outside the classroom while dance class is in session to preserve quality of instruction and minimize distractions to your child and/or others. Guests who wish to view a class outside of the parent observation week must make special arrangements through the school director.
Newsletters: Monthly Newsletters and important updates are emailed to all addresses on file. The same newsletters and updates are emailed to you and posted on the website and Facebook page. We work hard to make the dance experience organized and fun. Keeping you informed is one of our primary goals. Please read all newsletters and other school information.
Arrival and Departure: We encourage students to arrive 5 minutes before class starts. For their safety, children should be picked up immediately after class. We charge a $10 fee for every 5 min after class had ended when you are late picking up your child. PLEASE BE PUNCTUAL. We all have other commitments we are late for when you are late.
Parking Lot Safety: The school is home to children of all ages. Please enter and exit our parking lot with extreme caution. Never park your vehicle in any area that is not a designated parking space. Please do not allow siblings to play in the parking lot.
Makeup Classes: Students who miss a class will have the opportunity to make it up with another similar class. Please check with the office to determine the best makeup class for your child. This class must be made up with in the one month of the class missed.
DRESS CODE REQUIREMENTS
Expressions Dance maintains a dress code to encourage concentration and a sense of inclusiveness (variations in attire can be distracting and contribute to feelings of inequality). Uniformity in dance wear allows the teachers to assess how well the students are implementing the technique being taught, problems with alignment, and other important aspects of dance training.
Studio Store: Expressions Dance offers dancewear and shoes for purchase. Visit the office to get fitted for leotards, tights, ballet shoes, biker shorts, jazz shoes, dance bags, studio t-shirts, and more!
TUITION, EXPENSES AND OTHER POLICIES
Monthly tuition does not include the annual registration fee, dancewear, shoes, costumes, recital tickets, or special events.
Registration Fee: An annual registration fee of $30 per person or $50 per family covers the cost of mailings, insurance, handbooks, rehearsals, and so on. Registration fees are not refundable with the exception of preschool students who are determined to be unready for dance and may receive a credit for the following season.
Tuition: Full monthly tuition is due by 1st of each month. Tuition is paid through automatic withdrawal from your credit or debit card account on file. Tuition will be charged directly to your specified VISA, MasterCard or Discover. We will accept cash, check, or money orders for tuition payment if received five days before the 1st of the month.
A $10 late fee will automatically be added to the amount of those accounts with an inactive or declined card. In the event payment under this agreement is not made at the time and in the manner required, the undersigned agrees to pay all cost of collection, including court cost, attorney fees, including charges and collection agency fee which would be 35% of the balance assigned, with or without suit.
We do not accept checks except in the event of a fundraiser. A $25 returned check fee will be added to all checks returned due to insufficient funds.
We offer a 5 percent discount on annual tuition that is paid in full with cash by September 30.
Please note: tuition is based on the season regardless of how many weeks are in a given month.
Class Drop Policy: You must notify us by email (email@example.com) five days before the first day of the month, otherwise you will be liable for the next month tuition charge. Tuition for classes cancelled after the month has begun will NOT be refunded.
* We reserve the right to cancel classes or adjust the schedule at any time due to lack of enrollment.*
ANNUAL PERFORMANCE INFORMATION
Performances are an exciting part of our program! All our dancers will have opportunities to perform at Christmas, and our Recital in June. This is their chance to show off all their hard work for the year!
CHRISTMAS: Costumes fees will not exceed $30 and many will be rented to you for $10-$15. Stars dancers will wear their class uniform as the base of the costume. Preschool dancers will need their own black leotard. Costume fees are due November 1st and will be charged with tuition.
All performers will pay a $20 performance fee, due December 1st.
ANNUAL RECITAL: Recital offers our students a professionally directed performance that allows them to present to their families and friends the results of a year’s hard work, dedication, and progress. A big part of dance training includes learning through performance.
Performance Package: For recital we have created an all-inclusive package that takes care of everything for you, providing the best experience possible. We feel that this eliminates surprise expenses and makes for a much more enjoyable recital experience. By providing larger guarantied quantities to our suppliers we are able to get better prices for everyone. The Performance package includes:
More information on our recital will be sent home in February. Performance updates will be posted on the RECITAL PAGE.

Bring-a-Friend Week: The last week in September and the last week in January is “Bring-a-Friend Week.” Students may bring a friend (similar in age) to the school to experience a fun class designed for them and their guests. Students’ friends attend class free of charge during this week.
Summer Program and Camps: Each summer Expressions Dance offers summer programs and camps for both current and new students. A complete brochure of all summer programs will be distributed in January. We suggest early registration as these programs do sell out, especially the camps. Visit the SUMMER PAGE.
Studio Rental: The studio is available for rental for meetings, rehearsals, and other activities. Tables, chairs, sound systems, and microphones are available. Whether you’re planning a one-time, weekly, or monthly event, give us a call to determine whether we can accommodate your group or activity.
