Company Attendance Policy

We believe dance training teaches young people what commitment actually looks like: showing up for a team, working hard, and discovering what they're capable of. The attendance policy exists to help dancers plan ahead, manage their time, and show up as a dependable teammate. It holds everyone to the same standard, because your dancer's team is counting on them, and so are we.

Technique Classes: Company Dancers are allowed two absences per semester (Fall: September-December, Spring: January-May) in each technique class. Starting with the third absence, each additional absence must be made up by attending a make-up class.

Choreography Classes: The same two-absence allowance applies. Beginning with the third missed choreography class, it is at the teacher's discretion to keep the routine as-is, require one-on-one catch-up lessons, adjust the dancer’s spacing in the formation, or remove the dancer from the routine. 

Punctuality: Dancers are expected to arrive on time to all classes, dress rehearsals, conventions, competitions, and performances.

Week-of Absences: If your dancer is absent the week of a competition or performance, it is at the teacher's discretion to allow them to perform, adjust their spacing in the formation, or require a one-on-one makeup lesson before they perform.

Reporting an Absence: All absences must be excused in advance by filling out the absence form on the website. For performance absences, submit the form and email company@dancetoexpress.com. A minimum of two weeks notice is required before any performance so adjustments can be made and the team can feel confident going in.

Missing Material: If your dancer misses class, they are responsible for learning any material covered before the next class. 

Attendance Tracking: Make sure your dancer scans in at the start of each class. Attendance is visible in your parent portal — check it regularly to confirm it's tracking accurately. If you notice an error, reach out to company@dancetoexpress.com. When a dancer reaches their third absence in any class, the company director will send an email with make-up class options based on their team. Dancers who are unable to meet the attendance and makeup requirement may be removed from performances at the director's discretion.
